Service Description

Event Details: ● Date: Saturday, June 14 ● Time: 12:00 - 3:00 PM ● Location: Clay Space Studio - East Wing Registration: $95 per person Level: Beginning - Intermediate Previous handbuilding experience and general slipping and scoring knowledge is necessary. Learn how to translate photos and reference images into a formed and handbuilt animal shaped ceramic sculpture! In this workshop, Miranda will teach you how to attach legs, ears, shape the body, and add accents like tails, horns and wings to a 2" - 5" figure. She can also show you how to carve fur or skin textures! Clay Space is willing to bisque fire the greenware figurines. Purchasing a Day Pass is necessary to use glazes and glaze firing services. Please bring: *Standard Handbuilding tools *Reference Images / printed photos of an animal (simple is better, e.g. dog, horse, etc.) Image should be 3" - 5" at least one showing a side-view *Pencil for tracing *Personal hand towel and apron Clay Space will provide 2 lbs. of cone 10 reclaimed clay and tracing paper for each participant. **Discounts cannot be applied to this workshop. About the Artist-Instructor: Miranda Zimmerman uses inspiration from nature and her background in science to create intricate and dreamlike creatures. Her work invites the viewer to explore a world where the lines between science and fiction are blurred. Miranda graduated from California State University–Monterey Bay with a bachelor's degree in Evolutionary Biology. She then went on to acquire her graduate certificate in Science Illustration, and spent three months working on paleontological reconstruction at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. She now resides in the Pacific Northwest, taking on freelance work and creating Faun-Creatures to fill her fictional universe. Clients include Oculus Rift, The Field Museum, and independent researchers.


Cancellation Policy

Clay space reserves the right to cancel any workshop or class for good cause, including but not limited to: lack of sign-ups, illness of instructor, extreme weather conditions, etc. If a class or workshop is cancelled by Clay Space, we will refund payment. We offer full refunds for cancellations made more than 10 days out from a class or workshop and 50% refunds made between 5 and 10 days before a class or workshop. There are no refunds for cancellations made within 5 days of a class or workshop. All refunds are for the designated amount minus the services fee charged to us. To cancel your class or workshop reservation, please email us at office@clayspaceeugene.org to receive a refund.
